Cheff of The Dead



The game was created with GameMaker in 7 weeks by a 4-person team. Being the team's artist was my primary responsibility, although I additionally did some programming and design work on top of that.


The game is set in a post-apocalyptic environment, with a protagonist named "Cheff" trying to save people's lives and cure the plague.

Development Process

The tilemap

It was one of the most vital visual aspects to draw and set up in the world, since it is what the player walks on.

Item Shop

An item shop mechanic, eventually used for the player to buy required items to progress through the story.

Character Creation

Based of vague descriptions of the character blueprints I made 8 of them in total with various effects, some were referenced with pop culture aspects.

Function that triggers certain dialogue

There are multiple cases in the code that determines where the player's current stage in the quest is so far. Multiple functions, like in the example, were created.
